The expertise of our AZGS staff ranges from lava flows to zoogenic rocks - a biogenic rock comprising fossil remains of organism, i.e., the fossilferous Kaibab Limestone of northern Arizona.
A chief objective of the Survey is to construct detailed 1:24,000 scale geologic maps of Arizona in order to understand a complex geologic history of Arizona. We also investigate geologic hazards, such as earthquakes, radon, debris flows, earth fissures, landslides, and more.
